Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Hanoi – Lang Son – Quang Uyen (L/D)

07:30 – 08:00 Pick-up by minivan from your hotel in Hanoi Old Quarter (or meeting point).
Enjoy a scenic drive toward Lang Son, along routes that gradually trade city bustle for borderland landscapes.

Mac Citadel (Mạc Dynasty fortress)

Arrive and visit Mac Citadel, a 16th-century stronghold built as a defensive outpost. Explore remaining stone walls, hear the story behind its strategic role, and take in panoramic views of the region.

Lunch in Dong Dang

Lunch at a local restaurant—simple, filling, and well-timed before the afternoon drive.

Dong Khe Battle Site (1950)

Continue to Dong Khe, a key historical location from the First Indochina War. Your guide will share the context of the battle and why it became an important turning point.

Evening: Nung ethnic homestay

Travel onward to a traditional Nung homestay.
Dinner is home-cooked, warm, and shared in the way rural Vietnam has always welcomed guests—quietly, generously.

Day 2: Cao Bang – Ban Gioc Waterfall – Ba Be National Park (B/L/D)

After breakfast, depart for Trung Khanh near the Chinese border.

Phuoc Sen village (Nung blacksmith culture)

Stop in Phuoc Sen, known for traditional blacksmithing. Meet local Nung people and see how farming tools are crafted—still essential to everyday life in the surrounding rice fields.

Ban Gioc Waterfall + bamboo raft experience

Arrive at the breathtaking Ban Gioc Waterfall—a powerful natural landmark in a dramatic landscape. Take time for photos, enjoy the atmosphere, and hop onto a bamboo raft for a closer perspective (weather/water level permitting).

Transfer to Ba Be Lake

Return via Cao Bang town, then travel down the famous winding mountain roads toward Ba Be National Park.
Check in at a traditional Tay-style homestay, owned and operated by a local Tay family. Dinner and rest in a peaceful setting.

An Ma Temple

Continue to An Ma Temple, a sacred site of the Tay people—connected to local beliefs and historical legends.

Boat time (choose your style)

Now choose how you want to enjoy the lake:

• Relax option: stay on the boat and admire karst formations and jungle shoreline

Lunch + return to Hanoi

Lunch at Ba Be Jungle Houses restaurant, then transfer back to Hanoi (~230 km).
Stop at a tea plantation among rolling hills before arriving in Hanoi—goodbyes, photos, and that tired-happy feeling you only get after a real journey.
